Who says you can’t have an adventure and a stay at the same time? Solent Forts are a collection of three unusual and historic sea fortresses in the Solent, off Portsmouth, UK. Two of these luxury venues are now available for private hire and hotel use whilst Horse Sand Fort is under refurbishment to develop into a living time capsule museum.
Formerly home to hundreds of soldiers guarding the approaches to Portsmouth, the arms and ammunition have long been removed making way for the most unique venue collection in the world.
Spitbank Fort, the smallest of the Solent Forts offers nine luxuriously furnished bedroom suites, three bars and restaurant areas, spa facilities and the utmost privacy.
No Mans Land Fort due to open in Spring 2015 will offer 22 bedrooms, a helipad and spa facilities, plus facilities including its own laser Fort wars, golf simulator, a hot house with firepit, a large rooftop firepit, spa facilities, a cabaret bar, shops and restaurants.
Spitbank Fort – The smallest of the Solent Forts and a firm favourite around the UK. Open every Sunday and on occasional Wednesdays and Saturdays for lunch, it’s a great and unusual dining experience and a great way to taste the entire Solent Forts experience.
Even getting to the Solent Forts is an adventure; all trips out to the Forts start with a rendezvous at the Solent Forts departure lounge (on land) where guests are prepared for their adventure with a tot of rum or glass of champagne. After the Solent Forts concierge team have boarded your luggage, step aboard the Solent Forts Catamaran or Solent Forts RIB to be whisked away to your own private island.
The real luxury begins when you take a trip aboard. Either hire a room on a Fort Break Experience or take Exclusive Use and hire the island all to yourself. Guests can make use of all of the amazing facilities on board, including a choice of bars, rooftop Hot Pool with Sea Views, Sauna and Fire Pit all with far reaching views across the English Channel towards England and the Isle of Wight. Below deck enjoy a choice of bars, relaxing areas, games rooms and even a wine cellar! Whilst on the fort there is a great range of exciting activities to enjoy including boat rides, cigar rolling, fishing and more.
Offering 22 large bedrooms all with en suite and sea views, No Man’s Land Fort offers a plethora of activities and facilities that keep even the most restless guest entertained. A choice of games room, its own shopping street, a Nordic bothy, spa, treatment rooms, laser quest, wine tasting and bars – it’s only a matter of time before No Man’s Land becomes a second home to some guests. Arrival to No Man’s Land fort can be made through the Solent Forts departure lounge, or why not add the full VIP treatment by landing on the island via the private helipad?
Horse Sand Fort – Horse Sand Fort is currently under development but will be restored as a historic time capsule, showcasing the history of the Solent Forts throughout the years. With actors, models and themed areas, it will be a great adventure and after its all over guests can relax back in the luxury of Spitbank Fort or No Man’s Land Fort.
Sunday Lunch at Sea – Ever imagined dining above the waves on your very own island? Spitbank Fort is open every Sunday for Sunday Lunch.This is your chance to come aboard the fort and experience a totally unique and special dining experience.
Your voyage begins with an arrival drink at the departure lounge, before a champagne reception on the Fort. You can then enjoy a guided tour of the Fort and get an insight into the Fort’s remarkable history, before tucking into a 3 course lunch prepared on site by Spitbank Fort Chefs.
