Mandir Palace is an exquisitely carved architectural marvel of ornate balconies, canopies and delicately carved screens that represent a high point of local craftsmanship in its finest and purest form. A noticeable feature of Mandir Palace is its tower called ‘Badal Vilas’, which stands out as the tallest structure below the hill-top city fort. The Palace has 28 elegantly appointed rooms, which include 22 Deluxe Rooms, 4 Golden Suites and 2 Surya Mahal Suites.
The Rooms and suites are tastefully furnished to meet the requirements of the modern traveller. The Golden Suites date back to 1770 and 1850 and were the personal rooms of Maharawal Moolrajji and Maharawal Barisal Singhji respectively. The Golden Suites have yellow stone interiors which reflect the décor prevalent in that period.
The Surya Mahal Suites were built in 1914 by Maharawal Jawahir Singhji as part of his personal rooms. These suites have private balconies and give a majestic view of the Jaisalmer Fort.
